- How often should I get my pet groomed? Depending on the breed, the average time between grooming appointments is around 4-6 weeks. This can vary depending on your pets coat. Furminator treatments we recommend having done every 4 weeks if possible. You will see the shedding improve the more you keep up with it! We are not fairy dogmothers though. There will always be some kind of shedding!
- What vaccines does my pet need to be up to date on? We require all of our grooming pets to be up to date on a rabies vaccine. Paperwork must be provided, otherwise we can update while your pet is here if needed.
- How long does the grooming process take? Can I drop them off anytime? All of our grooming appointments must be dropped off in the morning before 9:30AM, and we open at 7:30AM. From there, it will depend on drying time for your pet, on average they are done in the afternoon between 12PM-3PM. Saturdays, we must be dropped off by 8:30AM, and we close at 12. Just remember, sometimes there are some pets here that take longer than normal, putting us behind the rest of the day. We try to get everyone out in a timely manner.
- My pet can be aggressive. Can you still groom him/her? We do offer grooming sedation on our hospital side before hand if it is needed. We prefer to try without sedation if possible, but it is always an option if the pet is too aggressive. Each case can be different. Sometimes, the react differently here than they would at home!
- Will my dog/cat get a bath before his/her haircut or Furminator treatment? Yes! In order to get an even hair cut, the hair needs to be clean, so we always bathe the dog as part of grooming. Depending on your dog’s breed and style, the groomer may do a “rough cut” first. After the rough cut, the dog is washed, dried and then the haircut is completed. In other cases, we may wash and dry the dog and then the haircut is completed. All grooming appointments also include nail trimming, ear cleaning, and an anal gland expression. We can also grind the nails and brush the teeth for an additional fee upon request.
- How much will my grooming cost? There are a number of factors that we consider: The pet's size, temperament, coat condition and desired style. If you contact us, we can provide you with an estimated price.
Boarding
- What do I need to bring with me when dropping my pet off? We will ask for a copy of vaccines records if this is the first time we are boarding your pet. We provide all blankets, food, food bowls, etc., so in reality, you don't need to bring a thing! We feed all of our pets Hills Science Diet I/D, which is a hospital grade food that is very easy on the stomach. But you are more than welcome to provide food if your pet is on a specific diet, or a bed and favorite toy. Please remember that the kennel cannot be responsible for lost or destroyed (or chewed!) bedding/toys.
- Do you have a check out time? Yes, our check out time is 1PM Monday - Friday, though we are available until 5PM for pick up and drop off. There will be the charge for the day if pick up is after 1PM. Saturdays we are available until 12PM. If you opt to have your pet groomed the day of pick up, you will only be charged for grooming that day and can pick up anytime.
- What vaccines does my pet need to be up to date on? We require all boarding pets to be up to date on a rabies, distemper, bordetella, and canine influenza vaccine. We can update any vaccines needed during their boarding stay.
- Is my dog in the kennel all day? Do they get outdoor time? We let your pets out 3-5 times periodically throughout the day to stretch and go potty. We do also offer extra play times and walks for your pet, if you feel they need extra exercise or if they have a lot of energy. The price for those can be found on our Services & Rates page!
- Can we pick up on Sundays? No I am sorry, we are closed on Sundays for drop off and pick up, though we do have kennel workers that come in and take care of the animals. We open as early as 7:30AM on Monday.
- Are there kennel workers there 24 hours? All of our kennel workers and staff come in the early morning, afternoon, and late evening to do their rounds. Overnight we have our cameras active to keep an eye on everything, and most all of our workers live within a 5-15 minute distance from the facility should we need to check on anything right away.
- Do you pick up/deliver the pets? Do you have a mobile service? No, I am sorry. We do not have a transport vehicle for pick up or drop off, and do not offer mobile grooming. You can see above hours for available drop off and pick up times.
